The breath taking Three Rivers South is not actually a city or town, but the area South of Sunriver and North of La Pine. It derives the name from the Deschutes, the Fall, and Spring Rivers that all meet in the area and meander through it. Actually, the Big Deschutes and Little Deschutes combine here, forming the Deschutes River. A bit higher in elevation than Bend to the North, at about 4,100 feet, it tends to be a bit cooler and gets more snow in the Winter than does Bend. But its proximity to Mt Bachelor and the Cascades suits skiers and winter sports fans just fine.
Three Rivers South is also a fisherman´s paradise, with abundant trout and trophy fly fishing.
The area contains several communities, including Fall River Estates, Deschutes River Recreation Homesites, Oregon Water Wonderland I & II, River Meadows, Lazy River, River Forest Acres, Spring River, Vandevert Ranch, Crosswater, and the soon-to-be completed destination resort of Caldera Springs.
It is one of the few areas where riverfront properties can still be found in Central Oregon, at relatively affordable prices.
And many fall in love with the pristine surroundings of National Forests and Ponderosa and Lodgepole Pines that are abundant throughout the area. They feel they have found Paradise within a half hour´s drive from Bend. |
